Two Steps was first opened as a ‘Fried Fish Dealer’ in 1895. Its unusual name was invented over 100 years ago by locals wishing to distinguish the chip shop with ‘two steps up to its front door’ from its rival across the road and it has been used fondly ever since. The business has been passed down through many owners over the years but has always retained its unique old fashioned character. A keen amount of interest in the history of the shop and its local surroundings has been researched. Be sure to check out the photo boards and reviews displayed around the shop which highlight the local nostalgia in what is now a famous Sheffield landmark.
We pride ourselves on being a traditional fish and chip shop serving good quality Yorkshire food at reasonable prices. Particularly popular are the £2.25 'Specials' offering sausage or fish with chips and a side of your choice. We are passionate about keeping alive traditional Yorkshire food including rissoles and fishcakes and buttered breadcakes which are hugely popular with the locals! Where possible we use locally produced seasonal products to support other businesses in the surrounding area.
We have received consistent five star ratings on a yearly basis for food hygiene by Sheffield City Council and Scores on the Doors. This and our warm friendly attitude towards customers means we have built a reputation for fantastic quality and service. Open six days a week – there’s no excuse not to come and give us a try!!!!
We hope to see you soon!!
